Starting on Commissions

After blowing up once on both Twitter and Youtube shorts, I got a few commissions from people through VGen. So I guess at this point I'm qualified enough to talk about commissions.

I have started without doing too much pricing on stuff and also go for a rather cheap rate since I'm just starting. That attracted people who hired me to do full illustrations and that have kept my queue up to mid-July by this point.

The stuff I've realized by now is that design service should definitely get a extra charge, since there's going to be research and also back and forth on the project. As for nsfw I've decided to charge a little bit more as an add-on fee, which probably should get increased if I want to work on projects that are publicly presentable (but I guess the money is important as well...).

One thing I haven't anticipated is how different the character's build can make life a headache since you have to figure out some entirely new body frames that goes outside the usuals. That can be somehow fun in a way, but it does get demanding when you're trying to keep quality up on a paid project, so definitely be aware of longer drawing time on the projects.

I'm certain that I will be slowly moving the price back up to hourly rate but there's not as many comms for me atm so I'll work on them until I can raise the price to reduce demand. It's business after all (and there's the personal fun pieces as well)
